E-BIKE SERVICES LAUNCHED AT CHENNAI METRO STATION
After introducing the smart bicycle sharing system, the Greater Chennai Corporation is launching an e-bike share system, specifically for women and elder citizens in Chennai, the Times of India reports . The Chennai Metro Rail limited has launched e-bike services at Thirumangalam, Vadapalani and Alandhur metro rail station. Commuters could use these bikes for first and last mile connectivity by simply booking the bikes on a mobile app CMRL has tied up with 'Howdy hire bikes' a two wheeler rental start up to offer the service. To book a bike passengers have to download 'Howdy hire bikes' mobile app. The bikes would be GPS-enabled so the passengers can select a pick up and drop point. Upon getting a bike they will have to scan the QR Code on the bike to unlock/start/lock or pause through the mobile app. Officials said a pick up and drop hub will be available at every 500m in the city.
